Wanted to start this thread as I know there are several people already using GF CF diets for their family member with Autism. And others who are interested in finding out more or trialing it.

Some research and many families who have trailed a GF and/or casein free diet has witnessed improvements in Autism symptoms - such as behaviours, continence, concentration, speech, skin issues, sleep, etc. Not all individuals improve, and not all individuals improve at the same level as others.

Many will say it's worth a try.

For some, the elimination needs to be very strict however for others just a reduction sees improvement.

Not all families go totally GF and/or CF, just the individual - it's personal preference and a family decision.

Gluten is protein molecules in grains and Casein are protein molecules in milk - and thier products. The grains that are commonly used that contain gluten are wheat, barley and rye. Oats, and it's products in Australia also contain gluten because they are contaminated at farm level by being grown in the same paddocks that the other grains were grown in in previous years (some left over grains still germinate).

I'd like this thread to keep going - with your family's experience and sharing of recipes, suppliers, hints, websites, books, etc.
