You can apply for a Companion Card for use with your special person. It acknowledges that individuals with a permanent disability may need a carer with them to fully participate in the community. If the person couldn't attend if they didn't have a companion then the Companion Card can be used. Affiliates give free entry to the companion.

Not everywhere accepts the card, you need to check the list and also check when booking tickets.

The card originally cost $30.00 per 3 years but that was refunded and now it costs nothing to apply. You do need to fill in the forms and have your doctor complete a couple of sections but it's quite easy.

Have a look at the website and see what venues and events are included, you may be surprised. It can also be used in Victoria, and it is hoped in the future it will become a truly national card.
