PostSubject: Laptop for school   Mon Apr 20, 2009 8:31 am

A friend of my Mother's who teaches high school, suggested that my son (10, ASD) would benefit from a laptop at school. My mother now plans on buying one as soon as possible. I will have to negotiate with the school whether or not he can use it. Has anyone supplied their child with a laptop, and did it work, not work etc? At this stage I'm not concerned about convincing the school, I just want to know if it is worth my Mum spending the money, and any hints to make sure he works on it, rather than playing all day. At one stage the school allowed him to use the classroom computer (3 years ago) and he spent the whole time changing fonts, I'm hoping he is a bit beyond that now.

So any thoughts, on ways that it might work, and what to do to help make it successful.
