| The City of Melville Little Hands Children’s Festival is again set to entertain and inspire the young and ‘young at heart’ on Sunday, 30 November in Kardinya. The free family event, now in its fourth year, aims to bring the community together to take part in a range of 'hands on' activities including music, multicultural activities, and visual arts. Mayor Russell Aubrey said the City of Melville had this year joined with local community groups and businesses to coordinate the festival. “Working with these groups will widen the audience and provide a fresh new feel to the event,” he said. “Each year the Festival moves to a new location within the City of Melville in order to highlight the various assets, groups and the built environment within that neighbourhood.” This year the event will be held at Frederick Baldwin Reserve, on the corner of North Lake Road and Le Souef Drive, Kardinya from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Highlights will include stilt-walking, circus skills, capoeira, a DJ, face-painting, bubbles, a dress-up box, model boat display, drumming workshop and a special appearance by Kinetic Theatre’s Snail Trails. There will also be a sausage sizzle, cake and coffee stall and cold refreshments available. Lotterywest is supporting the event by contributing about $7,000 towards the cost of the sound, toilets, shade facilities, tables and chairs. | |
