Hi all
Being the lazy mother that I am
I felt my now 12 and 8 1/2 year olds (both are on the spectrum) could do more for themselves in the mornings.
Up to now I and my mum would put out the boy's clothes, shoes, make the beds, fold their PJs, etc and be telling them each step along the way from breakfast to getting on the bus. So I made a simple hand written schedule 1-8 steps that hey can read and follow. Less effort on my part - YAY!! They both seem to be enjoying the independence. Of course I still have to follow up and do the bed and PJs again to my standards
and they both still need supervising but it's "liberating"!!!!
We also have a shower list which is a schedule too - it has made them a lot more independent - still need lots of supervision or they would be in there for hours - maybe need a timer??
What schedules or routines do you have that help at home??
cheers
