This exciting new initiative has been proudly funded by the St George Foundation and Kids Are Kids! Therapy and Education Centre.
The playgroup has been designed for children/families who are in the process of being referred to Disability Services Commission or those that are on the waitlist for early childhood intervention programs (0-4 yrs).
This playgroup is particularly suited to children with diagnosed disabilities including global developmental delay or are currently awaiting formal assessment.
Play leaders will make available a range of play activities that encourage development across all skill areas. In addition the playgroup will be attended each week by 2 therapists who are available for consulting with parents about areas of childhood development. This will include a Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist and Speech Pathologist.
The session structure:
9.30-10.00 Greet and free play
10.00- 10.15 Morning tea
10.15-10.45 Children will participate in a structured activity (eg. craft, painting, music) whilst cared for by play leaders, therapists and group assistants.
Parents are invited to enjoy a coffee whilst being visited by guest speakers who will be discussing a range of topics relevant to childhood development.
